What we do
The innovation and development of blood purification products (Dialysis, CRRT and Apheresis) has been the core business of Medica S.p.A. for almost 40 years. Thanks to the dynamism and technological skills acquired over the years by its two research and development groups (Electromedical Devices & Membranes and Disposable Medical Devices), Medica S.p.A. has successfully entered several other markets, such as Cardiology, Surgical Oncology, Organ Transplantation, Urology and Gastroenterology Diagnostics, Bioregenerative Medicine, by expanding the product range of the business unit, which is present in over 60 countries worldwide.
Applications range from treatments for Chronic and Acute Renal Failure, Medium to Moderate Acute Respiratory Failure, Therapeutic Apheresis, Congestive Heart Failure, Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (Hipec), Pre-transplantation Organ Perfusion, Functional Urology and Gastrointestinal Motility Diagnostics, Bladder Post Void Residual Measurement, Renal failure in small animals.
The extrusion of hollow membranes is the technological strength of Medica S.p.A., which has developed a range of membranes based on the pore size and adsorption capacity of the highly bio-compatible materials used, in particular Polysulfone (Medisulfone®) and Polyethersulfone (Versatile-PES®).
The company offers a wide range of products for blood purification – including Dialyzers, Hemofilters, Haemoconcentrators, Plasmafilters, Adsorbers – and water purification with Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration filters, all specially designed and developed to offer the best conditions for the treatment of adults, children and infants.
Medica S.p.A. has adopted and implemented an internal Quality Management System (QMS) certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
Disposable devices are manufactured in dedicated ISO 14644-compliant Clean Rooms
